Gordon Bottum

Partner/Lead Creative

Who are you and what do you do for Ignition?
I'm Gordon Bottum, Partner and Lead Creative at Ignition Studio. Starting Ignition Studio along with Lee has been one of the best decisions of my life. Everyday, we make decisions that shape who we are, and it's very rewarding to watch our company grow based on those decisions. My greatest thrill is when we blow away a client with our ideas, skills and service. I love what I do... I love what WE do.

What would you do if you weren’t doing what you do now?
What do you mean by "now"? Do you mean right now? Right this second? Like, what would I be doing if I wasn't answering this question? I guess I would be doing something else.

What’s your most used key command?
Back in the day... (which was a Wednesday for all you Dane Cook lovers) it was "Shift-Option-Command-K". In QuarkXPress it made a little robot come out and "Zap away" your selection with a colorful ray-gun. Since I use InDesign now, I kind of miss the little guy.

Who are the five people you want to have drinks with before you die?
Harry Potter, Superman, SpongeBob SquarePants, Optimus Prime, and an Oompa Loompa

What do you suck at?
I really suck at answering these questions. Other than that, I suck at finding things I suck at. Doesn't that suck?

Amendment: I now know I suck at snowboarding and water-skiing.

What would be the coolest design project you would want to work on?
I'll have to think about this one. On one hand I'd love to do something for the Mountain Dew brand, since half of my bloodstream IS Mountain Dew. I would also love to do a whole series of model year literature for Toyota. It would also be cool to design a logo/icon that's tied to a technology like the "DVD Disc" icon or "Compact Disc" icon, just because you'd see it everywhere.
